About Osman Hope
Incorporated in 2001, Osman Hope was founded an ecumenical Christian-based organization that serves impoverished children in Honduras, also known as “Street Children”. By partnering with local churches, Osman Hope provides day shelters where the children attend when they are not in school.
The shelters operate from 6:00am until late afternoon. Under the guidance of salaried caregivers, the shelters provide breakfast, lunch and morning and afternoon snacks. They also provide the children with medical care, tutoring and a structured environment.
Currently there are three shelters operating in Honduras serving 110 children; one in La Lima, one in Santa Cruz de Yojoa and one in Villanueva. We also provide daily lunches and an afternoon snack for 60 children in Jesus Rivera. These are all locations in the San Pedro Sula area
Osman Hope also provides scholarships so the children can continue their education after the sixth grade when the government ceases providing free education. Currently there are 22 children in this program.
Board Members travel to Honduras quarterly to review the operation of the shelters as well as track the children’s progress in school.
| Our Mission
Osman Hope’s intention is to break the cycle of poverty in the lives of these children. We believe that by establishing shelters in Honduras we provide children protection from the elements, nourishment for the body, enrichment for the spirit and educational opportunities for the mind.
