The children that come into the Osman Hope shelters are the poorest of the poor.  Each shelter’s director lives in and knows the families of the children that are brought into the shelters. The typical scenario for a child entering a shelter is one of extreme poverty. They are typically suffering from malnutrition, parasites and any number of health issues affecting their lives.  The living conditions at home that are deplorable with several family members sharing a small space with dirt floors, poor sanitation and leaking roofs.  Here are the stories of some to the children:
