The transformation of Erlin Javier Rivera
Erlin’s Father was killed when he was 3 years old. His aunt adopted him, because his Mother was an alcoholic. When he was 4 years old, his mother was wounded in a fight and died in the hospital. Noone claimed the body, so we don’t know where she is buried. Erlin entered our shelter in August , 2006, when he was 10 years old. Erlin changed a lot during those two years in the shelter. Early on, he was difficult to control, but he matured a lot.
Now he is more responsible and studies hard. During 2010, at a meeting at his school attended by his schoolmates with their parents, Erlin had an identity crisis related to his parents’absence. We noticed the negative effect on the smaller children and feared that the next year, Erlin might have to leave the Santa Cruz shelter. We prayed about this problem and in late 2010, God intervened in that Osman Hope now continues transforming the life of Erlin by a scholarship. Today he is in the 7th grade at the Santa Cruz Technical institute. Although the first three months there were difficult for him to adapt to the new system of studies, thanks to Osman Hope he continues to grow and succeed.
