Karla’s Story
KARLA PATRICIA, 11 years old, is the fifth of seven children in her family. She and her two younger brothers live with their Mother and were victims of the alcoholism of their Father. Karla’s Mother works by washing clothes for other people.
When Karla and her two brothers entered the Osman Hope shelter in Lima near San Pedro Sula, Honduras, in 2006, they suffered from malnutrition, but thanks to the meals provided for them, today they are healthy and growing. Karla has had some learning problems, and so is still in first grade. Thanks to the support from our generous donors, Karla and her brothers are hopeful for a better future. This shelter serves 30 “streetchildren” and was started in 2002.
